“Choose a job you love and you will never work a day in your life”
Katie O’Loughlin – Owner and Head Stylist
I always knew I wanted to work with animals. I spent my childhood riding horses and playing with my dogs. I qualified from Saint John’s Central College in 2002 having completed a 2 year Diploma studying Veterinary Nursing, Obedience Training, Animal Welfare and of course Dog Grooming. I was hooked!
I launched Bubbles and Barks in 2005 and opened my first salon in 2008. I was awarded a Merit Award in my first competition with my lovely model dog Nina in 2013. In 2014 I was awarded Peoples Choice International Groomer of the month for October with my fabulous model dog, Alfie. The prize money was donated to MADRA (Mutts Anonymous Dog rescue and Adoption).
In March 2015 my dreams came to fruition with the opening of our brand new, purpose built Doggie Spa and Boutique on Pier Road Bearna. This new space really reflects the level of care and styling I want to offer to all of my doggie clients. We have a seperate drying and bathing room and an open plan finishing are with purpose built doggie suites. Your dogs comfort is our primary concern,
I attend and host many training courses each year to polish my skills and to keep abreast of new styles and techniques. Even moving into hosting training days in the new location.
I think I am the luckiest girl in the world to be able to do what I love every day and I can’t imagine doing anything else!
Jemma O’Gorman – Junior Groomer
Since I was a child I always had a great interest in animals, especially dogs. I have two German shepherds, Ruby and Chopper who love their walks and swimming in the river. I attended an animal care/veterinary assistant Fetac level 5 course in 2015. I got to work with dogs while completing this course and from then on I knew I wanted to work in dog grooming. Now I am working in Bubbles and Barks and I am enjoying every minute of it. I am learning so much and get to spend every day working with different breeds of dogs which is what I’ve always wanted to do.
